Costa Maya is a beautiful touristic region in the southern portion of the state of Quintana Roo that stretches along the coast from Pulticub to Mahahual. Mahahual is a small hidden paradise which is rapidly growing into an important touristic destination. In this quiet spot of the Mexican Caribbean you can have a walk down the coastline and enjoy the amazing beaches with shallow water which are great for kids. It’s a wonderful place for those who like fishing and since it is quite close to Banco Chinchorro it is a unique destination for people that love scuba diving. In any of the waterfront restaurants you can delight yourself in fresh clams, fish and lobsters
In Costa Maya you can also find Chacchoben, an important mayan ruin or archaeological site which was just discovered in 1994.
Other important touristic destinations in the Costa Maya are the Bacalar Lagoon and Xcalak, one of the last virgin beaches on the region.
